What is holding back the ornamental fish keeping Industry in Jamaica?

What is holding back the ornamental fish keeping Industry in Jamaica?   To some like myself looking from outside inside, the typical view would be this industry does not exist in Jamaica. You might be surprised at the heavy investments being made by large players within the industry both regionally, internationally and locally here in Jamaica. The openness if there is any such word, of this industry to new players within the market or new ideas and investments are considered closed and not open for admittance. Based on some research in which I have done, there are several private ornamental fish farms in Jamaica, growing, breeding, harvest and shipping ornamental fishes overseas. Some of the fish from these farms might just find themselves in some local petshops, why is so!?. The only reasons why this is so, is partly due to the imperfection identified in finange, colour and genetical structure of fish bred on these farms. This is a sad situation but as an enthusiast, ...

ORNAMENTAL FISH KEEPING IN JAMAICA

Ornamental fish keeping in Jamaica   Jamaica is the home to several ornamental fish. Some of which are kept in several regions as pets. I have visited my local rivers and have seen Jaguar cichlids, called dog teeth, Goby fish, mosquito fish, guppies, mollies, fire mouth and other fish species I have no idea of their actual names. A few fish keeping enthusiast like myself has taken the initiative to catch and keep some of these list fish species as pets and in some cases have breed and sold some to local pet-shops.   The current ornamental fish trade in Jamaica is considered either un organized or top secret to all whom are looking on as a willing participant within this internationally lucrative potential economical enterprise. Many small ornamental fish keepers do exist in Jamaica. Most have entered into the trade first as a hobby and have expanded their network as a business as time progresses. To me several potentials exits for this enterprise to be streamline ...

Love LIFE SMASHED

In Jamaica,  there is a saying that mixing business with pleasure is dangerous. Many persons may have expected that I would either do a video piece on this particular topic or something dramatic, I choose to write, strange right hahahahaha.  I hope this mode of expression still inspire your interest to glean throughout this blog post. A few years ago a well known fish keeper living in the United States Virgin Islands, was actually chastised by me in about three post on youtube. I was given a fine whipping by several of his butt sniffing dogs. I still held my own, lost a few subscribers and dropped off the viewership paradigm as far as channel growth is concern. I am ok with that, I got the similar treatment by minions for the infamous criminal and the racist Canadian King. After a few months or years if you wish, the channel of this popular fish tuber grew exponentially. He too ended up kissing a few butts so as to acclimatize to fame. I shared in a piece that this dude was ...

SOCIAL MEDIA DELEMA | Hypocrites and Racist

Its been a while since I have written a piece. This was partly due to my channeled energy in getting my very own youtube channel monetize. This feat was achieved and I now feel a sense of accomplishment re: my monetization achievements. Today, I share with you a topic which have been bothering me for years. I have never spoken much about it publicly before. Today I now feel the urge to just spill my guts.  The idea of a share on any social platform can be phenomenal. Being popular goes with many variables and responsibilities. One such variable is the matter of associates and skin colour. In addition, in the mix is one's location. Not surprising I discovered some really knowledgeable folks on Ornamental fish keeping. These folks are not actively involve in YouTube postings but are actively involve in fish keeping. These persons have shied away from the spotlight, not doing any activity which puts their own life in danger or others associated with them either. Ohh yeah, these...

Do I really need a filter in my fish pond or aquarium ?

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by my blog post. I have been asked the question " do i really need a filtration system in my fish pond or aquarium? " . Many aquarist have their own style of keeping their aquarium fish. Some persons although keepers of aquarium fish are more in tuned to other areas  than the fish itself. Some persons use the waste of fish / occupants of ponds and aquariums to nurture their plants or crops in specially designed  grow out planting beds with vegetables and flowers grown for both trade and personal domestic use. It is very difficult to suggest that you all will be successful in keeping your fish outdoor as I do. I live in the tropics and only experience a wet and dry period. In response to the actual question, filtration in aquariums is not needed in outdoor systems. You see, based on experiences I have had over the years, having plants in your ponds works better than an actual filtration system. A pond laden with plants and soil is guarante...
